Here’s everything we know so far about the release date, cast, trailer and plot of NBC’s The Blacklist Season 7 according to its cast, crew and trailer hints.

What time is The Blacklist Season 7 on NBC?

Episodes of the new season will air on Friday nights at 8p.m. ET/7p.m. CT on NBC. The release date for the premiere is Friday, October 4, after which time episodes will air weekly.

Like five of the previous six seasons, Season 7 is expected to have 22 episodes. After each episode airs, it will be released onto the NBC website and app for viewers to catch up with.

Those who want to catch up on the previous six seasons of the show can do so on Netflix, who will get The Blacklist Season 7 at some point after it finishes airing on NBC.

Who is in the Cast of The Blacklist Season 7?

Nearly all of the main Blacklist cast has been confirmed to be returning. James Spader will be back to lead the show as ‘Red’, who will be joined by Liz Keen (Megan Boone), Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) as well as new villain Katarina (Lotte Verbeek).

There had been some speculation that Dembe Zuma (Hisham Tawfiq) may be leaving after he left in Episode 19 of Season 6, but the character returned in the nick of time to save Red’s life in the finale and will be back for good in Season 7.

The makers of the NBC show have also teased that some new cast members will join over the course of Season 7. Creator Jon Bokemkamp told Variety: We’ve killed off people on the show and sometimes we regret it…It can be painful but ultimately if it weren’t for some of these characters going it really does open up windows for us to have new people within the Task Force and within Red’s world. It’s such a strange and eclectic group of people that it’s always fun to bring in new characters."

What Will Happen in The Blacklist Season 7?

We begin the season after the events of the last finale, which saw Katarina drug and kidnap Red after seasons of him being told she was dead. Promotional images for the season see Red as Katarina’s prisoner, with one image released by Entertainment Weekly showing him tied to what looks like a chain link fence while someone injects him, with another photo showing Katarina watching the effects of this from a bank of monitors.

According to Eisendrath, how easily Katarina was able to kidnap Red will be explored in Season 7, with Blacklist executive producer John Eisendrath telling Variety saying: “How does a man who does nothing without taking incredible precautions leave himself open and vulnerable to being captured or attacked by a woman who he allegedly has known his own life—was her lover, had a child?”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Bokenkamp added: “We start season seven in a place where the audience is sort of in Reddington’s shoes, with a whole bag of questions.”

Is There a Trailer for The Blacklist Season 7?

NBC has released two trailers for the new season of The Blacklist; A first look trailer featuring interviews from the cast and a shorter promo that reveals some more of the new series plot.

The latter begins with James Spader saying: “The season ended last year in crisis and the season opens this year in even worse crisis” before bigging up Katarina as the ‘big bad’ of Season 7.

The promo, meanwhile sees Red’s team on the hunt for him after Dembe lets them know he’s missing. In another scene, we see her collect Red’s blood for an unknown but surely nefarious purpose.

The Blacklist Season 7 airs Fridays at 8.p.m. ET/7p.m. CT on NBC.
