According to NBC “the episode features the two brothers going home and returning to an incident from their childhood that is a significant part of Ressler’s backstory and why he is the FBI agent he is.”

In a clip provided exclusively to Newsweek, however, it seems that Ressler’s brother’s present-day troubles may be linked to the Albanian mob. In this scene from The Blacklist Season 7, Episode 17, we see the Ressler brothers catching up in a bar.

“My garage isn’t doing as well as I might’ve let mom think,” we hear Robby say, to which his brother replies, “Oh, you don’t say.” Robby then continues: “I was losing money. So I hired a bunch of guys. I thought they were stand-up guys, and I needed some fast cash. I couldn’t stand for another failure, Donny.”

“Who’d you borrow money from?” Donald Ressler asks, and his brother replies, “Definitely not the banks… most places you walk in, they don’t even look at you. I borrowed it from a local guy. An Albanian type.” Shocked, his brother asks, “The mob? The Albanian mob?”

The trailer for “Brothers” gave fans another tease of what they can expect from the latest episode of The Blacklist. Over footage of people digging, we hear the brothers say: “I’ve been running from this my whole life… if they find what’s under that dirt, we both go to jail.”

In another scene, we see Liz Keen (Megan Boothe) tell Ressler: “If the FBI found out, are you really OK with dealing with the consequences?”

Hall was first announced to be joining the cast of The Blacklist in April, when The Breakfast Club actor shared an Instagram post featuring a number of pictures from the set of the NBC show. One of these might suggest what is hidden underneath the park, with Hall posting an image of a prop corpse.
