However, this scene also might suggest that the third movie will have an entirely new cast, meaning that actors like Samara Weaving, Bella Thorne and Judah Lewis may not return for a third movie.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Babysitter: Killer Queen
After Cole (played by Judah Lewis) defeats the blood cult again at the end of the second movie, all of the major players get sucked into hell. Though this presumably means an end to the cult, it does not mean that the evil magic behind it is gone for good.
After the credits start rolling, an end-credits scene shows the book that was at the heart of this cult washing up on an abandoned beach, its pages blowing in the breeze. As such, it is easy to imagine someone finding this book at the start of The Babysitter 3 and the cycle happening all over again. This could be a tribute to the ending of the original Jumanji, which sees the board game unearthed on a beach.
Though that scene did not lead to another Jumanji film, this new scene could be setting up a Babysitter 3. However, this scene sets up the potential of an entirely new cast. As we do not know where the book has ended up, a third film could take place anywhere that new people can find the book.
This seems like a good strategy for the movie to take. After all, two of the original movie’s stars (Samara Weaving and Bella Thorne) have become far more famous than they were when they made the original movie, with Weaving becoming a leading lady in films like Ready Or Not and Thorne becoming an OnlyFans millionaire.
Though both of these returned in smaller roles for The Babysitter 2, they may either be unwilling or become too expensive to appear in any further sequels. As such, the end credit scene allows the franchise to continue without having to rely on its former stars.
On the Bloody Disgusting Podcast, director McG hinted that the movie may move away from Cole if they make a threequel. He said: “I don’t want to talk about the third beat of the Cole arc. But should the audience like this movie, we’re ready to do the third one. Let’s see if people like this one.”
Judah Lewis, however, has hinted at a number of ways that Cole could return. He told ScreenRant: “There are so many different paths to go. Not only does Cole’s relationship with his dad change, but his relationship with Phoebe would also be a really interesting thing to explore and see where it goes. Plus, he’s got to get through high school and I’m sure, like always, there are demons lurking just beyond the shadows that are ready to strike at any moment!”
The Babysitter and The Babysitter: Killer Queen are streaming now on Netflix.
