The long-running CBS show, hosted by Phil Keoghan, returned earlier this year with a number of teams once again sent on a trek around the world with the hope of arriving at the final destination and winning the cash prize.
Each team comprises two people with a pre-existing relationship and at every destination they have to compete in a series of challenges to learn where their next stop is, all with the hopes of being the first team to arrive at the final destination and win at least $1 million.
One of the teams taking part in The Amazing Race Season 34 is made up of 36-year-old law firm administrator Bushnell and her long-lost twin Molly Sinert, who works as a healthcare administrator.
The twins, from Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, respectively, have put in a strong performance so far on the show, despite Bushnell suffering a knee injury.
During the Roadblock of Leg 4 of the race, Bushnell revealed that she may have hurt her leg, leaving her sister as the only member of their team able to perform physical challenges.
Bushnell has since been seen wearing a knee brace, but during the latest episode on Wednesday, November 15, she was seen struggling with her injury, leading fans to question if she will be able to continue in the competition.
Viewers also wondered if there is a medic on hand who could help Bushnell with her knee and potentially ensure that she can carry on participating in the challenges.
During Wednesday’s episode, The Amazing Race contestants traveled from France to Spain, but the twins got off to a slow start due to the injury and difficulties with navigation.
The setbacks mean that on the next episode of The Amazing Race Bushnell and Sinert will begin in second to last position and it’s not yet known whether Bushnell will be able perform the next task.
In the preview for the upcoming episode it’s shown that the team members will be asked to walk on a tightrope hung high in the sky, which of course may prove tricky for Bushnell and her knee.
Taking to Twitter as the latest episode of The Amazing Race aired, fans shared their worries over Bushnell’s future on the show.
One fan wrote on the social media site: “There isn’t ONE medic that can fix Emily’s knee???? #AmazingRace.”
As another posted: “I wish they would let Emily see a doctor for her knee. #AmazingRace.”
“She need to get her knee checked. Should she even still be on it?? #AmazingRace,” asked another concerned fan.
Newsweek has contacted representatives for The Amazing Race and CBS for comment.
Elsewhere on this week’s episode of The Amazing Race, brothers Marcus and Michael Craig were the last ones to finish the puzzle and reach the checkpoint, but they weren’t eliminated from the competition as it had previously announced that nobody would be going home this week.
The Amazing Race Season 34 continues on CBS every Wednesday at 9 pm ET.
