Evans clarified her side of the story after reports from police alleged the reality star had fabricated her animal cruelty report for publicity. Police have officially closed the case, without filing charges against Eason or Evans. Evans explained what she knows of her dog’s last moments in a conversation with Hollywood Gossip.
She spoke about her conversation with police. “When I responded I told him, ‘Yes, what you heard is true about my dog. This isn’t a publicity stunt, and I’m not sure where my dog is or what happened to my dog, but you would have to call David and ask. I was inside my house with my kids when David went outside with the dog.’”
Police issued a statement to explain why the investigation had been closed. “Jenelle’s accounts were inconsistent with her original account of the events that occurred on April 29th. Jenelle advised that she was inside with her children at the time of the alleged event,” said the statement, obtained by Fox News. “She advised that she never heard or saw anything to indicate that David shot her dog. Jenelle advised that she did not want the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office or the District Attorney’s Office to continue with the investigation.”
The report also claims Evans had admitted the whole situation was for publicity. “Jenelle advised that ‘she don’t know where the dog is.’ She also advised that ‘I don’t know if she was shot or killed or not.’ Jenelle stated that the reason she filed the animal cruelty report was for the publicity and because she did not know where her dog was.’”
News of Nugget’s said death first broke in May, when rumors circulated that Eason had shot the dog after it snapped at his young daughter. Eason confirmed the rumors to TMZ. Evans was slow to comment on Eason’s claims, but did post a grieving tribute to the French Bulldog on Instagram.
Evans recently regained custody of her children after they were removed from her home for a little more than a month.
