Normal games are fun, but at the moment there is no way to prove who the best players are. That problem will soon disappear, as TFT will be getting a ranked mode in just a few short days. You might be Iron on Summoner’s Rift, but remove the mechanical skill needed to play League of Legends and you might just be a prodigy. Or you could still flame and feed, but this time you won’t have any teammates to blame - just bad AI and luck of the items.
Teamfight Tactics Ranked Release Date and Time
Teamfight Tactics ranked mode will release with patch 9.14 on July 9 or 10 at around 1 to 2 p.m. ET. (Update 7/9 5:00 p.m. EST) Looks like Riot Games isn’t following their usual schedule and we will update this story once a date is known.
The patch is currently being tested on the PBE, to ensure the mode won’t break the game when it’s released in just a few short days. Twisted Fate, the card-throwing adventurer champion, will also be added to the game in this patch, adding a bit more depth to the already complicated game.
Deciding who “wins” a game of Teamfight Tactics can be a bit complicated. Only awarding the player who reaches the number one spot will force most players to descend into ELO hell, while giving too many players wins will destroy the competitive nature. Riot Games has decided the top four players in a match will count as having “won” for purposes of ranked advancement.
Players have been asking for a ranked mode in Teamfight Tactics since it was first released on the PBE. The reason League of Legends is so addictive is because of it’s ranked climb; that need to play just one more game before bed so you can finish your promotion series and get out of the Silver. Before you realize it, you see it’s 4 in the morning and you just played six games. TFT will be no different, sucking in the lives of thousands of more hardcore ranked grinders.
