The series, which is based on Jeff Lemire’s DC comic of the same name, follows nine-year-old hybrid Gus, who is half human and half deer, a decade after a plague known as the Sick wreaked havoc on earth following “The Great Crumble.”
Gus (Christian Convery) is saved from poachers by a man named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), whom he decides to follow, and the pair embark on a journey to Colorado to find Gus’ mother Birdie.
But all is not good in the world of Sweet Tooth. The first season ended in a dramatic cliffhanger with Jepperd left for dead and Gus taken by The Last Men alongside a number of other hybrid children.
Newsweek has everything you need to know about Sweet Tooth’s second season.
When Is Sweet Tooth Season 2 Out?
In a fun teaser video, the cast of Sweet Tooth revealed that they would be returning for another season.
The actors shared a look at a giant slab of chocolate that they had been sent by Netflix to announce that their show had been renewed.
While they did reveal that Sweet Tooth would be back for a second season, it was not revealed when it would be expected to return.
However, Netflix have announced that the show will once again consist of eight one-hour episodes.
Who Will Star in Sweet Tooth Season 2?
Fans will be happy to know that the cast they know and love will return for the second season.
Convery and Anozie will once again portray Gus and Jepperd, while Dania Ramirez will play Aimee Eden and Stefania LaVie Owen is back as Bear.
Other cast members set to return include Adeel Akhtar as Dr. Singh and Aliza Vellani as Rani Singh.
What Will Happen In Sweet Tooth Season 2?
In the cast’s announcement for season two, Anozie asked the question on everyone’s lips: “Will Jep and Aimee save the hybrids?”
Aimee found Jepperd when he was left for dead by the Last Men and she started to nurse him back to health at the end of season 1, so it stands to reason that they will go in search of Gus and Aimee’s other hybrid wards.
Owen, meanwhile, wondered whether Gus would finally reunite with his mother Birdie, who her character Bear made contact with in the last episode.
Birdie is currently in Alaska where she is searching for a cure for the Sick. If Gus and the hybrids manage to escape then perhaps he can finally find her with Bear’s help.
Another question is whether Dr. Singh will remain loyal to the menacing Abbot, as his apparent changing attitude towards the hybrids makes one wonder if he will find it in his heart to care for those held captive and help them escape.
Is There a Trailer For Sweet Tooth Season 2?
As yet there is no trailer for Sweet Tooth’s second season, other than the one that announced the show had been renewed.
In the clip, Ramirez gushed: “We’re so excited to be continuing the Sweet Tooth journey with all of you, there is so much we still need to know.”
In a statement following the announcement, showrunner Jim Mickle said: “It’s been equally thrilling and heart-warming to experience how people around the world have been falling in love with our deer-boy.
“We couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with Netflix and keep following Gus and his friends on their extraordinary journey.”
A trailer for the show will no doubt drop once filming has begun.
Sweet Tooth season 1 is available to stream globally on Netflix now.
