Steven Universe Future Trailer Leak
The second trailer for Steven Universe Future seemed to appear online on the show’s YouTube page. The 30-second teaser featuring new and old faces quickly disappeared but fans had already cached and uploaded high-quality versions.
There’s a ton of new information and gems to keep those Steven fans hungry until the show premiere at a currently unknown date. Steven is now a teenager, who drives a car so old that it has its own tape deck. He continues to help the gems that were freed from the Cluster in the last season adapt to everyday life. These gems paint, explore and relax in the outskirts of Beach CIty, which they were never able to do before. Spinel’s evil plan to destroy the planet in the movie never came to fruition but other villains and problems continue to be popping up.
There’s a cameo from Rose Quartz, Steven’s mom and the original holder of his gem, whose legacy he still struggles with. Her Pearl with one eye also makes an appearance. Jasper, the angry orange gem who was previously infected with the Cluster before being cured, is making an appearance to seemingly cause trouble. The trailer ends with a voice saying “you are not my diamond” though it isn’t clear who it belongs to.
Since the original trailer for Steven Universe Future premiered in early October, there’s been very little information about the new show. Fans have been waiting to see what Steven, Amethyst, Pearl and Garnet are up to now that the gem’s home world is no longer out to get them. The main villain for most of the series was the diamonds, who in the latest movie sang duets with the team. Whatever challenges the Gems have to face, at least they can do it together.
Steven Universe is a beautiful show that explores the complicated world of emotions and growth. Its continued existence is a testament to how far good writing and quality storytelling can keep an audience’s attention. The original show ran for five seasons, with an epic movie to top it all off. With creator Rebecca Sugar still working on Future, it’s unclear when the show will premiere. Fans are going to have to deal with the trailers and tidbits until the full release.
