The new Frontier Pursuits coming to Red Dead Online include Bounty Hunter, The Trader and The Collector.

To take on the Bounty Hunter role, visit the Legendary Bounty Hunter in Rhodes to purchase a Bounty Hunter License (15 Gold Bars, or free, if you’re a Twitch Prime Member with your account linked to the Rockstar Games Social Club). As a Bounty Hunter, you can get new bounties at law offices, train stations and post offices. You can even recruit a Posse to take on well-protected bounties in exchange for a cut of the bounty. Achieve a high enough Bounty Hunter rank and you can even chase other players with bounties over $20.

As The Trader, you’ll join the Cripps Trading Company, which lets players transform their camp into a business by tracking down items that can be turned into sellable goods. All you need is 15 Gold Bars to purchase Butcher’s Table to get started (the Butcher’s Table is free to all PlayStation 4 players).

Traders hunt animals, tackle Resupply Missions and deliver goods, upgrading their Hunting or Delivery wagons as they earn.

You can now become a Collector by buying the Collector’s Bag from travelling saleswoman Madam Nazar for 15 Gold Bars (or by collecting all 54 hidden playing cards in Grand Theft Auto Online). Nazar will point the player toward treasure, including Tarot Cards, buried treasure and hidden heirlooms. As The Collector, you’ll be able to assemble sets for more money, improve your search skills and pick up tools like a metal detector.

Frontier Pursuits are expected to be an important new part of Red Dead gameplay, with additional Roles expected in future updates, further personalizing the online experience for players. As such, Frontier Pursuits have their own, independent levelling system, with XP specific to each Role — bounty hunting earns Bounty Hunter XP, scavenging earns Collector XP — and building through 20 Role Ranks, from Novice to Distinguished. Higher Role Ranks unlocks new skills and access to Free Roam events, plus items that can only be bought with “Role Tokens.”

But potentially just as game-changing as the new Frontier Pursuits coming to Red Dead Online are major changes to the how player-characters control, transforming how players interact with the game. The 1.11 patch to Red Dead Online will include what Rockstar describes as “dramatic improvements to player control with quicker and more responsive movement across all phases of combat and locomotion.”

The new update to Red Dead Online will also include additions like new Ability Cards, Daily Challenges, Dynamic Events throughout the open world map, new items and Daily Role Challenges to challenge those opting in to the Frontier Pursuits Roles. Tweaks to existing in-game mechanics are also part of the update, such as the higher damage resistance now granted to the Defensive playing style — a menu option that prevents other players from locking on to you, designed for non-combat play.

The world of Red Dead Online evolves with Frontier Pursuits - featuring three new Specialist Roles - each with their own unique paths and activities to help you forge new directions and carve out a life for yourself on the frontier:Bounty Hunter:Become a Bounty Hunter for a life of constant action. Each Role comes with its own specific content including new themed gameplay and activities, Free Roam Events, Daily Challenges, Awards, unique customization items and more. Players can choose to play and progress across all three Roles simultaneously or choose to focus their efforts into the Roles of their choice. The Wheeler Rawson and Co. Club has been added to Red Dead Online. Club membership is automatic and free, giving players rewards as they play between September 10th and November 18th. Balancing and Improvements in Red Dead Online

Players can now change the appearance of their character through the Online Options section of the Player menu. All characters created before this update will receive one free appearance change, and further appearance changes can be made for a fee. The Photo Studio in Red Dead Online can now be used to capture a Posse Portrait, taking a photograph with every member of a player’s Posse. Additional group poses and backdrops can be unlocked through Club Rewards. Ambient bounty hunters will now attempt to arrest players before killing them and players can surrender in order to pay off their bounty through jail timeImprovements have been made to the detection of self-defense during conflict escalation with members of the ambient population. Other changes to Red Dead Online coming in the 1.11 version include three new horse breeds, eleven new emotes, nine new Passive Ability Cards, new Camp upgrades and two new Walk Styles. Players will also be able to change their character appearance in the “Online Options” menu section.

Tweaks and fixes have been made throughout Red Dead Online and Red Dead Redemption 2.
