The last Max Raid Battles that featured Gigantamax Machamp and Gengar - not to mention the Version Exclusives - are gone to make way for these four Pokémon.
If you’re looking to take advantage of this latest Max Raid Battle shift, here’s everything you need to know, including when the event starts, ends and how to find them.
POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD GIGANTAMAX CHARIZARD, GARBODOR, COPPERAJAH & DURALUDON RAID TIMES
Pokémon trainers can enjoy these new Max Raid battles from now until Wednesday, April 27 at 7:59 p.m. EDT.
HOW TO FIND THESE GIGANTAMAX POKEMON
First, trainers will need to update their Wild Area News. To do so, access the menu (X) and select Mystery Gift. After that, trainers should select “Get the Wild Area News” and then connect to the internet if they haven’t already.
While exploring the Wild Area, trainers will want to search the dens with the red beams of light coming out of them. The silhouette of a Pokémon will appear to show what is found inside.
All four Gigantamax Pokémon can be found in either version, so there’s no need to go online to hop into another player’s Raid. However, to get more chances at catching these Gigantamax Pokémon daily you can try to enter another player’s Max Raid Battle through the online features. To join other people’s Raid Battle, players will need to connect to the internet. You can learn more about that in our Sword and Shield online guide.
GIGANTAMAX POKEMON INFORMATION
Upon Gigantamaxing, Charizard, Copperajah, Garbodor and Duraludon get access to exclusive G-Max moves that make them more unique than their Dynamax forms.
A G-Max Charizard knowing a Fire-type attack can use G-Max Wildfire, which deals damage to non-Fire-type Pokémon at the end of each turn for four turns. G-Max Garbodor knowing a Poison-type attack can use G-Max Malodor, which poisons all of your opponent’s Pokémon.
G-Max Copperajah knowing a Steel-type attack can use G-Max Steelsurge which scatters spikes on the field. Think of it like Stealth Rocks but of the steel typing.
Finally, Gigantamax Duraludon knowing a Dragon-type attack can use G-Max Depletion, which reduces the amount of PP of the last move your opponent used.
Pokémon Sword and Shield are available now for Nintendo Switch.
