However, there are plenty of Pokémon Dens that trainers will find in the Wild Area. There are 99 Pokémon Dens in total, and they each contain a different pool of Pokémon. Each Den can be activated randomly each day or by clearing all Max Raid battles in the Wild Area.
Trainers can also use Wishing Pieces to activate a Pokémon Den, but if you activate the correct Den you may find a Gigantamax Pokémon.
While exploring the Wild Area of Sword and Shield you’ll notice two types of beams of light. The red beams of light are the most common and only “common” Pokémon will appear in these Dens. Gigantamax Pokémon won’t appear in these Dens. For that you’ll have to find the “rare” dens that have a purple light shining out of them.
Gigantamax Pokémon usually have a 5 percent chance of appearing in these Raids, so get out there and hunt.
Some Gigantamax Pokémon are not yet available. Gigantamax Snorlax will begin appearing starting December 4, and trainers will have a higher chance of finding and capturing this powerful Pokémon until January 25, 2020.
It seems The Pokémon Company will continue to have these Wild Area Events periodically to promote certain Gigantamax Pokémon.
Certain Dens featuring Gigantamax Pokémon are also version-exclusive. Gigantamax Gengar/Machamp and Coalossal/Lapras, for example, can only be found in Max Raid Battles in their respective versions.
If you want to know every Pokémon found in each Den, you can visit Serebii’s comprehensive list. But if you’re looking for just the Gigantamax Pokémon, here’s the list of the available ‘mons and where you can find them. You can also check this thread of in-game screenshots to help you find the Den you’re looking for.
