Although we’ve learned some new information about The Isle of Armor recently, there are still a lot of surprises and secrets to behold when the expansion drops on June 17.
If you’re looking to download and play the Isle of Armor DLC as soon as possible, here’s everything you need to know:
WHAT TIME IS THE ISLE OF ARMOR DLC RELEASING?
Game releases are always tricky when it comes to Nintendo and its eShop, but it’s even harder to pinpoint when DLC can be downloaded.
The official Nintendo Support page states that games can be downloaded beginning at 12 a.m. EDT on the day of release, which in this case is Wednesday, June 17. However, past games were not made available to download at this time and were released later on in the day, so it’s unlikely the DLC will be released then.
The official Japanese Pokémon Sword and Shield site confirms that the DLC will drop the night of June 17 in Japan.
According to the Pokémon Home in-app news, the app will undergo maintenance on June 17 from 5-10 a.m. EDT. This seems to correlate with the DLC being released the evening of June 17 in Japan.
So Pokémon fans will likely see the Isle of Armor DLC become available to download following the finish of the Pokémon Home maintenance around 10 a.m. EDT.
We will continue to monitor any updates from Nintendo or The Pokémon Company as this story develops.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE ISLE OF ARMOR DLC
To download the Isle of Armor DLC, players must enter the Nintendo eShop with a strong internet connection. Usually new titles and downloadable content are featured on the front page, but buyers can manually search for the title as well.
The Isle of Armor DLC is available to pre-download now, so you can purchase and get your Switch ready for the specified release date. Players will need to have a copy of either Sword or Shield to download the expansion, and players will need to purchase the correct version. The Sword expansion pass will only work for Pokémon Sword while the Shield expansion pass will only work for Pokémon Shield.
It can also be downloaded when you’re within Sword and Shield itself. By Simply pressing the Y button and moving your cursor to the “expansion pass” logo in the bottom right corner, you’ll automatically be sent to the Nintendo eShop, where you can purchase the correct version.
The expansion pass costs $29.99 and will give you the Isle of Armor DLC and the Crown Tundra DLC, which is scheduled for some time in fall 2020.
