Late Monday, this message was sent out to the followers of The Pokémon Company’s accounts, “Trainers, thanks to your reports, we’ve uncovered a technical issue with the announcement of our latest Pokémon discovery. We’ve got our hardest working Pokémon Trainers on the case and hope to have the issue resolved shortly.”
Of course, this is referring to that bizarre tweet that went out September 13 that took fans to the homepage of the Sword and Shield games. When visited, a glitch was shown blurring out the image of a new Pokémon.
The official Sword and Shield site has this as its description.
“Only [redacted] that have survived many battles can attain this [redacted. When this Pokémon’s [redacted] [redacted]ers, it will retire from combat.”
The new Pokémon is a pure Fighting-type and weighs 257.9 pounds, but its height is redacted, likely to keep fans from guessing what it is. It has the ability Steadfast, which prevents the Pokémon from flinching.
This led many Pokémon fans to speculate about what the new monster might be. Many believe they see a version of Cubone, while others envisioned a possible new form of Farfetch’d once the image was turned on its side.
Whatever this discovery is, Pokémon fans will learn its identity soon enough. Serebii reports that the news is dropping on Wednesday, September 18 at 9 a.m. EDT.
So what can fans expect from the next Sword and Shield news? That glitched Pokémon will likely be revealed, and we may already know what it is.
A leak from May, which has proven to be correct, stated that Farfetch’d will get a new form and an evolution called Sirfetch’d. Galarian forms have been confirmed for the Gen 8 games, with Weezing and the Zigzagoon line being the only ones to receive them so far.
Regional evolutions are new to this region, and the aforementioned Galarian Zigzagoon line has a new evolution. Galarian Linoone can evolve into Obstagoon in this region, and the same is likely true for Farfetch’d and Sirfetch’d.
Pokémon Sword and Shield releases November 15 on Nintendo Switch.
