Armored Mewtwo will soon leave the Tier 5 battles in the popular mobile game and be replaced with the Emerald Dragon. While this is the third time Rayquaza has begun appearing in Pokémon Go, trainers will want to take part in these battles because they’ll finally have a chance to catch a Shiny Rayquaza.

Here’s all the information you’ll need to take down Rayquaza and catch its Shiny form.

POKEMON GO RAYQUAZA RAID EVENT START AND END TIME

The latest Rayquaza Raid Battle event begins Wednesday, July 31 at 4 p.m. and ends on Monday, September 2 at 4 p.m.

SHINY RAYQUAZA

In March, Rayquaza made its second appearance in Pokémon Go for a weekend event. Then, trainers believed that Shiny Rayquaza would finally be unlocked in the popular mobile game but Niantic confirmed that it wouldn’t.

Four months later and Rayquaza’s third time in Pokémon Go is here and Niantic confirms that its Shiny form is available for capture. Rayquaza has one of the coolest-looking Shinies in all of the Pokémon franchise. It goes from its emerald green color to a dark black.

Rayquaza won’t appear in its Shiny form when you fight it in a Raid Battle, you’ll have to wait until the capture stage to see if you have the opportunity at this rare Pokémon.

RAYQUAZA COUNTERS

Rayquaza is a dual Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon and that gives it some weaknesses, but a lot of resistances.

This Legendary is weak to Ice, Rock, Dragon and Fairy-type attacks, with Ice types dealing four times the damage to Rayquaza.

The Hoenn Legendary resists the following attacks so you’ll want to avoid using Pokémon that know these move types: Ground, Water, Fire, Grass, Bug, Fighting.

With the Pokémon being four times weak to Ice-type attacks, you’ll want to bring Pokémon that deal out attacks as fast as possible. Thankfully, Pokémon Go has a ton of Ice-type Pokémon that can deal a lot of damage, and most aren’t Legendary.

There are other Pokémon - mostly Legendary Pokémon - that aren’t the Ice-type but know at least one of those moves. Here’s a list of Pokémon currently in Pokémon Go that trainers will want to bring into battle against Rayquaza:

Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Ice BeamArticuno with Frost Breath and Ice BeamRegice with Frost Breath and BlizzardMew with Frost Breath and BlizzardCloyster with Frost Breath and AvalancheJynx with Frost Breath and AvalancheMamoswine with Powder Snow and AvalanchePiloswine with Powder Snow Avalanche.
