Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle is coming soon to the states and Pokémon Go is celebrating with a brand new event that sees the debut of two new Shiny Pokémon, including Shiny Celebi, who plays a big role in the film.
There’s new research to complete and bonuses to take advantage of during this special event, so you’ll want to know all the details as soon as possible.
POKEMON GO SHINY CELEBI RESEARCH START TIME
The special research to get Shiny Celebi began appearing in Pokémon Go on Monday, December 14. After some welcome dialogue from Jessie and James, trainers will have access to four pages of research to complete.
Luckily for trainers, there is no time limit for these research tasks and they can be completed at players’ leisure.

IN-GAME BONUSES
Aside from the Shiny Celebi research tasks, there will be special in-game events and bonuses throughout the next week.
From Monday, December 14, to Monday, December 21, at 10 p.m. local time, a special Explorer Pikachu will appear in the wild and in raids. Trainers can also find a Shiny Explorer Pikachu if they are lucky.
During this time, if you take some snapshots of Pokémon, you might see Jessie and James photobombing the frame. From 6 to 7 p.m. local time on Tuesday, December 15, Explorer Pikachu will appear more frequently in the wild and trainers will receive twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
From Monday, December 14, to Thursday, December 17, at 10 p.m. local time, Pokémon featured in the upcoming movie will appear more frequently in the wild— including Hoothoot, Nuzleaf, Drilbur, Cottonee, Dwebble and Durant. Lickitung, Mawile, Flygon and Rufflet will be appearing in Raids, while Igglybuff, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Bonsly and Rufflet will hatch from 5km Eggs.
Rufflet will have its Shiny form debut in Pokémon Go during this time, so be sure to try and find one.
And finally, on Friday, December 25, from 8 am to 10 p.m. local time, Meowth Balloons will appear in Pokémon Go more often, to allow trainers to challenge Jessie or James in battle.
