This month, the rewards for the field research tasks will put a spotlight on Psychic-type Pokémon, giving trainers more opportunities to capture this elusive type and have a better chance to catch Shiny Pokémon.

Some of these Pokémon can be powerful partners in the Go Battle League, and others will gain the ability to Mega Evolve in the future, so there is plenty of incentive to go out and complete these tasks as often as possible.

POKEMON GO SEPTEMBER FIELD RESEARCH TASKS

Be aware that some field research tasks won’t reflect the below list, but that of any ongoing event.

There is one event focused on the new Mega Evolution mechanic that will continue until September 11 and two more following it, so some of the field research tasks obtained by spinning PokeStops in the overworld won’t reflect this list of tasks.

WHICH POKEMON TO FOCUS ON

There’s a large pool of Pokémon that trainers can try and farm for in Pokémon Go by completing these new field research tasks.

Which Pokémon to focus on is a subjective matter, but we recommend going for those whose evolutions have the ability to Mega Evolve. Currently, there are only five Pokémon that can Mega Evolve: Venusaur, Blastoise, both Charizards and Beedrill.

However, as we see with the debuts of Mega Pidgeot and Houndoom, the rest of the Mega Evolutions will eventually make their way to Pokémon Go.

So which Pokémon should you try and catch from September’s field research tasks? Ralts is a great choice, as both of its evolutions will have the ability to Mega Evolve.

Gardevoir and Gallade become very powerful upon Mega Evolving, so picking one or two Ralts with good stats will come in handy in the future. The same goes for Slowpoke, whose evolution Slowbro will Mega Evolve. Abra and Beldum will also get the ability to Mega Evolve in the future.

As for non-Psychic-type Mega Evolutions, Aerodactyl, Gastly, Magikarp and Larvitar are great Pokémon to catch.
