Mega Pidgeot becomes the sixth Mega Evolution to join Pokémon Go—following Venusaur, Charizard X and Y, Blastoise, and Beedrill—and brings a powerful Flying and Normal-type Mega Evolution into the popular mobile game.

However, you may be wondering how exactly to take down this powerful bird. We’ve compiled a list of counters for trainers to take into battle starting Friday, September 18, at 4 p.m. EDT.

POKEMON GO MEGA PIDGEOT COUNTERS

Mega Pidgeot is a Normal and Flying-type Pokémon, which means it’s only weak to Ice, Rock and Electric-type attacks.

Its typing also makes it resist the following attacks, so be sure to avoid picking Pokémon that have them: Ground, Ghost, Bug and Grass.

With Mega Evolutions allowing for strong Pokémon to enter into these battles, trainers may want to consider bringing one into battle against Mega Pidgeot. Unfortunately, there aren’t any optimal Mega Evolutions to go against the Gen 1 Flying-type Pokémon.

Trainers could consider bringing in Mega Blastoise with Ice Beam as one of its Charged Attacks, since the Ice-type move is super effective against Mega Pidgeot. Mega Venusaur and Mega Beedrill are weak to Pidgeot’s Flying-type attacks.

Mega Charizard X and Y are neutral to Mega Pidgeot, so if you want to bring in a powerful Pokémon into the Raid it’s not a bad option.

However, to deliver the most damage the fastest trainers will want to consider bringing these Pokémon into battle:

Raikou with Thunder Shock and Wild ChargeRhyperior with Smackdown and Rock WreckerRampardos with Smackdown and Rock SlideZekrom with Charge Beam and Wild ChargeMagnezone with Charge Beam and Wild ChargeZapdos with Thunder Shock and Thunder BoltElectivire with Thunder Shock and Wild ChargeTerrakion with Smackdown and Rock Slide

Mega Pidgeot may carry the move Steel Wing, which is strong against Rock-type Pokémon, so keep that in mind when going up against this powerful bird Pokémon.

As a reminder, Niantic recently changed the requirements for Mega Evolution in Pokémon Go. Mega Pidgeot will likely need 200 Mega Pidgeot Energy to Mega Evolve the first time, but just 50 Mega Energy afterwards.
