During the Hoenn Celebration event, starting Tuesday, Groudon and Kyogre will begin appearing in five-star Raids. Trainers will also notice that there will be new research tasks to complete.
Catching two Kyogre and two Groudon will complete two of the three tasks needed to unlock Rayquaza with the exclusive charged move Hurricane. Any deal that allows you to catch four Legendaries, but get five is a great one for Pokémon Go trainers.
POKEMON GO GROUDON COUNTERS
Groudon is a Ground-type Pokémon, making it weak to Ice, Water and Grass-type attacks. Thankfully, there are plenty of powerful Water and Ice-type Pokémon to bring into battle, including a handful of Mega Pokémon.
Mega Blastoise, Abomasnow and Venusaur are the best options for Mega Pokémon to take into battle against Groudon.

Similar to the situation with Groudon, there are plenty of Grass-type Pokémon that can help you take on this Legendary. For the Hoenn Celebration event, Mega Ampharos will make its Pokémon Go debut, so if you can pick up enough Mega Energy, you can take the Electric and Dragon-type Pokémon into battle as well.
