Gone is Trapinch from the Research Breakthrough, and gone are the older Pokémon that were rewards for completing certain tasks. In July, trainers can stock up on a variety of Rock-type Pokémon, including the Fossil Pokémon.

Larvitar, the first form of the pseudo legendary Tyranitar, will be the Pokémon rewarded for a Research Breakthrough. Of course, the Research Breakthrough happens when trainers do seven days of completing at least one task each day.

Pokémon Go players can obtain one research task from a PokeStop. Trainers can only hold up to three tasks at one time, so if a player spins the PokeStop and they have room they can gain one of these new missions.

The July research tasks will be present in PokeStops all month and ending around 4 p.m. EDT on August 1.

Tyranitar is a powerful Pokémon to use in Raids, especially against some of the Flying-type Legendaries, but also in the Go Battle League. Other Rock-type Pokémon that do well in the PVP game mode are Steelix and Probopass.

Onix and Nosepass, their pre-evolutions, are rewards for some of the tasks for this month, so completing them will help trainers add these powerful Pokémon to their team.
