Like the Raikou Raid Day event in June, the Fire-type Legendary Beast Entei will be making a special appearance this Sunday. For a few hours, Pokémon Go players will be able to battle and catch as many Entei as they can in Raid Battles.
This will also be the first - and best - chance Pokémon Go players will have at catching a Shiny Entei.
If you’re one of the trainers who want to take full advantage of Entei Raid Day, here’s everything you need to know, including when it starts and which Pokémon to bring into battle against it.
WHAT TIME DOES ENTEI RAID DAY START AND END?
Entei Raid Day in Pokémon Go will begin Saturday, July 14 at 4 p.m. local time. Niantic has yet to announce when Entei Raid Day will end, but past events have typically run for three hours.
HOW TO GET SHINY ENTEI
Shiny Entei will make its debut in Pokémon Go this Sunday, and to catch it players will need to battle and defeat the Legendary in Raid Battles during the event.
Players won’t know whether the Entei they can catch is a Shiny until they defeat it in battle and go to the capture step. Shiny Entei is noticeably different from its original coloring. While regular Entei is red, yellow and brown, Shiny Entei swaps its brown coloring for a darker brown and the red turns into black.
A shiny symbol will also appear next to Entei’s name, if you are still unsure.
BEST ENTEI RAID BOSS COUNTERS
Entei is a pure Fire-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Water, Rock and Ground-type attacks. Bug, Grass, Steel, Ice and Fairy-type moves won’t be effective against Entei, so don’t bring Pokémon that know those types of attacks.
The Fire-type Pokémon from the Johto region will likely have at least one Fire-type move, so bringing Rock and Water-type Pokémon will benefit trainers. The current Raid Bosses include Tyranitar, so if you don’t have a viable option to go up against Entei, you’ll want to try and catch one before the event begins.
