However, the Raids will be where most trainers will want to hunt for these Dragon-type Pokémon. Niantic confirmed on its blog that Rayquaza, the Legendary Pokémon from the Hoenn region, will return giving trainers another shot at catching it and its possible shiny form.

Continue reading for all the information needed to combat Rayquaza and what other Pokémon have started to appear in raids during the week-long event.

POKÉMON GO RAYQUAZA COUNTERS

Rayquaza is a dual Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon and that gives it some weaknesses, but a lot of resistances.

This Legendary is weak to Ice, Rock, Dragon and Fairy-type attacks, with Ice types dealing four times the damage. The Hoenn Legendary resists the following attacks so you’ll want to avoid using Pokémon that know these move types: Ground, Water, Fire, Grass, Bug and Fighting.

In Pokémon Go, there are plenty of new Ice-type Pokémon that were added since the last time Rayquaza began appearing in Raids so there’s a lot of options for trainers. Of the new Pokémon, Galarian Darmanitan and the Legendary Pokémon Kyurem are great Ice types who can hit hard.

Here’s a list of Pokémon with the most optimal moves to use against Rayquaza during the event. They are not listed in any particular order.
