Season 4 of the Pokémon Go Battle League will begin September 14 and give trainers almost two months to battle other players from around the world and collect rare and special rewards.
This is also the best place to test your skills in battle in Pokémon Go. While Mega Evolution won’t be allowed this time around, there are plenty of new ways to battle coming to Pokémon Go this time around.
POKEMON GO BATTLE LEAGUE SEASON 4 SCHEDULE
Like past seasons, Season 4 of the Pokémon Go Battle League will begin September 14 with The Great League, followed by the Ultra and Master League. Each League will last two weeks.
The Great League will run from Monday, September 14, at 4 p. m. EST to Monday, September 28, at 4 p. m. EST. The Ultra League and its Premier Cup will run from Monday, September 28, at 4 p. m. to Monday, October 12, at 4 p. m. EST. This Premier Cup will have a 2,500 CP limit. The Master League and its Premier Cup will run from Monday, October 12, at 4 p. m. EST to Monday, October 26, at 4 p. m. EST. This Premier Cup will have no CP limit.
Following the three Leagues, a brand new Halloween Cup will go into effect. During this special tournament, only Poison-, Ghost-, Bug-, Dark-, and Fairy-type Pokémon will be allowed. In addition, you can earn reward encounters with Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, all wearing Halloween costumes. The Halloween Cup will have a 1,500 CP limit.
The all-new Halloween Cup will run from Monday, October 26, at 4 p. m. EST to Tuesday, November 3, at 4 p. m. EST. All three leagues and the Premier Cup (no CP limit) will be available from Tuesday, November 3, at 4 p. m. to Monday, November 9, at 4 p. m. EST. Season 5 will begin Monday, November 9, at 4 p. m. EST.
POKEMON GO BATTLE LEAGUE SEASON 4 REWARDS
Trainers looking to grab new Pokémon and avatar items will notice that many of the rewards for Season 4 remain the same.
The avatar items inspired by Pikachu Libre will continue to be rank 7 rewards. The avatar items inspired by Blue from the Pokémon RPGs will continue to be rank 10 rewards. The win rewards and Pokémon reward encounters will remain the same as Season 3. The end-of-season rewards will be similar to those in Season 3, which include the following:
Stardust from rank 1 to rank 3Stardust, TMs, and a Raid Pass from rank 4 to rank 10If you reach rank 10, you’ll earn a brand-new avatar pose!If you finish Season 4 at rank 7 or higher, you’ll receive an Elite Fast TM rather than an Elite Charged TM.
POKEMON GO BATTLE LEAGUE SEASON 4 CHANGES
With every new season there are changes to many aspects of the Battle League. First, the rank progression will be changing. Trainers can reach rank 2 by completing a certain number of battles, and can reach ranks 3 through 9 by winning certain numbers of battles. The number of battles needed was not confirmed by Niantic.
As for reaching rank 10, trainers will need to have a rating of 3,000, similar to past Pokémon Go Battle League seasons.
Lunge, a Bug-type Charged Attack will be added to Pokémon Go with the start of Season 4. This attack will lower the opposing Pokémon’s Attack and can only be learned by Masquerain and Galvantula.
As for updating already existing moves, Bug Buzz will have a chance of lowering the opposing Pokémon’s Defense, Flame Charge will deal less damage but will raise the user’s Attack, and Signal Beam will have a chance of lowering the opposing Pokémon’s Attack and Defense.
Vespiquen will have the ability to learn Signal Beam with the start of Season 4.
