“Pilk” is a drink that gets its name from its two ingredients, Pepsi and milk. Many are just now hearing about the unusual combo, but Pilk has apparently been a topic of interest on the internet for some time.

On Thursday, Lohan tweeted out a Pepsi ad that shows her slurping down some Pilk while dressed in a cute Santa-inspired outfit.

“Feeling nice…or naughty?” Lohan wrote in the tweet. “@Pepsi, let’s make #PilkandCookies happen.”

In the ad, Lohan pours a can of Pepsi into a tall glass, then looks into the camera and says, “Nice.” Next, she splashes in some milk and adds: “Ooh, naughty.”

“Pilk and cookies” flashes onscreen while the actress closes the clip with: “Mm, that is one dirty soda.”

What Is Pilk?

Pepsi is trying to make “Pilk and cookies” a thing this holiday season. The soda giant described Pilk in a Thursday news release as “the delicious and must-have drink that combines the crispness of Pepsi with the subtly sweet and creamy taste of milk, traditionally topped with creamer, and it pairs perfectly with cookies.”

Pilk goes by another name, “dirty soda,” and has recently gone viral on TikTok despite being around for some time.

The website Know Your Meme lists the Pilk meme’s origin date as 2020. That July, Twitter user @scubadivingzoo posted a photo of a light brown drink sandwiched between a 2-liter bottle of Pepsi and a gallon of milk, along with the caption: “Y’all want a glass of pilk.”

The tweet went viral, and within a year had received more than 53,000 likes and 10,000 retweets.

The following August, Pilk was featured in a viral TikTok video showing someone creating the combo in a school dining hall.

Still, it seems that Pilk itself dates back to well before 2020. Know Your Meme notes that a recipe for the drink had been uploaded to lifestyle site PopSugar in 2014.

The author of the recipe, Sabrina Eldredge, stated that her college friend told her about the drink and likened it to a “Pepsi float once the ice cream has started to melt.”

Eldredge went on to say that it wasn’t as if her college bud had invented Pilk. Laverne & Shirley actress Penny Marshall apparently loved the drink “in real life and had it written into Laverne’s character.”
