Bringing several new features and enhancements, Pikmin 3 Deluxe will launch for Nintendo Switch on October 30. If you want to play through the story mode in co-op, you can. Play new side missions with friends, you can. Players will also receive all the DLC stages from the game’s original release in one package.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe will also come with new difficulty options to test players’ skill, lock-on targeting to make attacking enemies and launching Pikmin easier, and much more.
“Pikmin 3 Deluxe brings this classic franchise to life on Nintendo Switch, introducing a new audience to its beloved characters and gameplay, while also welcoming back returning players with new challenges,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing in a press release. “With Pikmin 3 Deluxe, the Nintendo Switch library of software continues to grow with a variety of games for everyone to discover and enjoy.”
The original Pikmin 3, which was released for the Wii U, has an 87 average reviewer score and an 8.7 user score on Metacritic. It’s the third installment of the franchise that sees players control a little space man as they explore various planets using little creatures called Pikmin to help fend off enemies and traverse environments.
Fans of the Super Smash Bros. series may recognize Olimar, who is the main character of the first Pikmin game.
There are different-colored Pikmin that have various functions. Blue Pikmin, for example, can swim underwater and help pick up items where other Pikmin can’t. Winged Pikmin, which are pink in color and have wings, can help you fly over terrain you can’t normally cross, like bodies of water.
In Pikmin 3 Deluxe new side-story missions will feature Olimar and Louie exploring planet PNF-404. What those missions entail is anyone’s guess until launch. And if you want to go head-to-head with friends, you can enjoy the multiplayer mode, Bingo Battle.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe is another Wii U title that’s been ported over to the Nintendo Switch. It’s no secret that the Wii U console was a flop for the video game company, and many gamers never had the chance to play many of its games.
Examples of some of those titles include Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, and this year’s Tokyo Mirage Sessions: FE.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe will be released for Nintendo Switch on October 30.
