The Salinger family of the original, which made stars of actors Neve Campbell and Jennifer Love Hewitt, has been replaced by the Acostas, who struggle to cope after their parents are deported.
The show begins on cable on Wednesday, January 8 from 8 p.m. ET, when Freeform will air the first two episodes of the series.
How to watch the Party of Five reboot online
Good news for viewers who want to see if the Party of Five reboot lives up to the original: The pilot is available to watch online for free right now on the Freeform website. The episode is available to U.S. residents to stream now with ads, and the rest of the season’s 10 episodes are expected to be made available to stream on the website shortly after they air on the network.
Hulu is also streaming the Party of Five reboot pilot, and is expected to offer the rest of the series as episodes are released weekly on Freeform. Both Freeform and Hulu are streaming the show in an English and Spanish version.
For fans who want to watch the episodes on Freeform as they air, they will have to do that via a cable or streaming package. The Freeform website offers a live stream of the channel on its website and app, but to access it viewers have to sign in via their cable package or through one of the streaming services that offer a live stream of the channel.
These include most of the major live TV streaming services, including Hulu with Live TV and YouTubeTV. Both of these services also offer Freeform as a channel on the live-streaming sections of their websites, as does SlingTV’s “orange” package.
As for those who want to relive the original Party of Five, which aired on Fox from 1994 to 2000, the show currently does not have a streaming home as of January 2020. However, as the original series is now owned by Disney, who also own Freeform, both the original and the remake could come to Disney+ in the future or onto Hulu.
Party of Five is streaming now on Freeform and airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
