Based on the body count in the Netflix series so far, that is a fair question to ask. Per the show’s Fandom page, there have been over 200 deaths across the first three seasons of Ozark.
Though some of these were mass killings like the decapitated cartel members in Season 3, or the 50-plus people who overdosed on Darlene’s (Lisa Emery) fentanyl-laced heroin, the Netflix series has never been afraid to kill off main characters.
From the shock death of Darlene’s husband to the surprise killings of Wendy’s brother and Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) in the last season finale, the Ozarks are a dangerous place on the show.
Before Season 4 comes out and adds to the death list, here is a recap of every main character who has died across the first three seasons—by main character, we are counting everyone who appeared in over five episodes of the show.
All the Major Deaths in Ozark Seasons 1 to 3
Season 1
Russ Langmore (Marc Menchaca) and Boyd Langmore (Christopher James Baker): Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) electrocuted both her uncles to stop them from trying to kill Marty.
Grace Young (Bethany Anne Lind): Baby Zeke’s mother, killed by Darlene and Jacob (Peter Mullen) after her pastor husband tried to stop them using his church to smuggle heroin.
Camino Del Rio (Esai Morales): The Navarro cartel lieutenant was shot in the head by Darlene after he insulted her.
Season 2
Ash (Michael Tourek): A close associate of the Snells—until Helen gets Jacob to stab him with a fire poker.
Buddy Dieker (Harris Yulin): Died of causes related to his heart disease after living in the Byrdes’ basement—and after destroying the Snells’ poppy crop.
Mason Young (Michael Mosley): A season after his wife’s death, the pastor is also killed, this time by Marty, who shoots him after he tries to kill Wendy.
Jacob Snell: Though Jacob tries to kill his wife, she gets there first by poisoning him.
Roy Petty (Jason Butler Harner): The FBI agent investigating Marty threatens several members of the Ozark cast into trying to get to him. This backfires on him when Cade Langmore (Trevor Long) beats him to death.
Cade Langmore: Cade himself, however, did not last much longer. Set up by Wendy, who made it look like he had stolen cartel money, he was offed by a gunman hired by Helen.
Season 3
Tommy Walsh (Tyler Chase): A friend of Frank Jr. (Joseph Sikora), shot when attacking the Navarro cartel.
Sue Shelby (Marylouise Burke): Marty and Wendy’s therapist, who Helen gets her henchman Nelson (Nelson Bonilla) to murder after she finds out too much about the cartel business.
Ben Davis (Tom Pelphrey): Wendy’s brother, who she chooses to hand over to Helen after he tells Helen’s daughter about her mother’s role in the cartel.
Helen Pierce: Killed by Nelson on Omar Navarro’s (Felix Solis) orders after she tries to get him to choose between trusting her and trusting Wendy and Marty.
