Hulu and the ABC website and app are both currently hosting the most recent episodes of Modern Family Season 11. Viewers can watch on the latter for free with ads. Hulu, meanwhile, costs $5.99 with ads to watch the series and the streamer’s thousands of other TV shows and films. To watch with no commercials on Hulu will cost $11.99 a month, though the service does offer a month-long free trial.
As for when fans will be able to watch the first 10 years of the ABC show, there is currently no streaming release date. Currently, the only group of people who can watch the initial decade of Modern Family are DirecTV subscribers, who can view the show as part of their cable package.
However, there are a number of hints that Disney (which owns both ABC and Hulu) is thinking of putting the series on one of its streaming services.
According to What’s On Disney Plus, the Mouse House has sent a survey to some Disney+ customers asking them how likely they would be to watch a number of series with slightly more mature themes than the all-ages content currently on the streaming service. Among TV-14-rated series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly are the PG-rated Malcolm and the Middle and Modern Family.
Though this is no indication that Modern Family Seasons 1-11 will come to Disney+, it does seem to suggest that the company is considering putting the show on the streamer. After all, Malcolm in the Middle was one of the shows revealed to be coming to Disney+ during a recent investors call event for the streamer.
Modern Family fans hoping that the show will come back to its one-time streaming home Netflix are likely to be disappointed. The show is a casualty of the rivalry between Netflix and Disney+ that has seen Disney remove much of their content from the former service.
Modern Family Season 11 is streaming now on ABC and Hulu.
