Brooks’ family is making nearly 40 items belonging the Team USA’s coach available, including documents and  game jerseys from previous Olympic games.

“Between me and my sister and my mom, having to store this stuff and track it down and babysit it was kind of a pain, quite frankly,” Dan Brooks, the son of Herb Brooks, told the Associated Press. “We decided this might be a good time to see if anyone has an interest in the stuff to just simplify our lives.”

Online bidding on the 10-karat ring is already at $34,000.

The 35th anniversary of Team USA’s unthinkable victory against the Soviet Union is Feb. 22. There will be a live auction in New York on Saturday night.
