But when it comes to Season 12’s rockiest and most controversial moments, no couple has been through more than Paige and Chris. And because of his part in all of their drama, Chris is currently at the top of many fans’ “most hated” cast members list.

Following Wednesday night’s episode of the Lifetime reality series, fans took to social media to rally against the 27-year-old Georgia native, who experienced a brutally uncomfortable sit-down with his wife and fellow MAFS castmate Paige, and his ex-fiancee Mercedes, with whom he is expecting his first child.

The outrage against Chris, who works as finance manager in Atlanta, has been brewing for some time, though, pretty much right since the moment that he exchanged vows with Paige and told her just moments later that he was fresh out of a long-term relationship and had only covered up a tattoo of his ex’s name days before the wedding.

Chris’ standing with viewers continued to deteriorate after it was revealed that the couple had consummated their relationship. Chris told his new wife that he wasn’t exactly attracted to her, and when she asked why he decided to have sex with her, he said he thought it would help him become more attracted to her. And then, as if all that wasn’t enough to have fans turn against him, during their honeymoon in Las Vegas, Chris told Paige that his ex, Mercedes, was pregnant and he was interested in potentially working things out with her.

After the honeymoon, Chris had no problems telling Paige he wasn’t happy in the marriage and that he was still in love with his ex. And it was his idea to have the women meet. However, when Paige agreed to sit down with Chris and Mercedes in the season’s eighth episode, Chris didn’t have much to contribute, which really bothered some fans of the show who thought his behavior was pretty childish.

“Chris is extremely disrespectful and immature,” one fan wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

And while plenty of viewers were troubled to hear Mercedes reveal that Chris never told her of his plans to join MAFS, despite attempting to reconcile their own relationship, some fans took comfort in watching the women remain amicable during their meeting. Others were even more thrilled when Paige and Mercedes both said that they’re done with Chris and his shenanigans.

Some people online were just glad to see Chris get a taste of his own medicine after putting Paige through the wringer.

“Chris thought he was going to embarrass Paige and now he sitting here looking sad. Now, THIS is the will of God,” one fan wrote.

“That will forever be the Unmasking Of Chris. We found out he was using Mercedes pregnancy as an excuse to divorce Paige, his ex didn’t want him, & he is a pathological liar. Whatever he planned to come out of that meeting only served to expose the depths of his foolery. #mafs,” wrote another.

Although Paige said that she was ready to end the marriage on the latest MAFS episode, the pair still have a ways to go before they meet with the show’s relationship experts—Pastor Cal Roberson, Dr. Viviana Coles and Dr. Pepper Schwartz—for Decision Day and make their divorce final. (That is, if they actually go through with the split.)

Married at First Sight airs on Lifetime on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET.
