Mad About You 2019 Part 2 will be released in full on December 20 on Spectrum, with the remaining six episodes of the 12-part reboot season all coming at once to the streaming service, available for free to subscribers of the Spectrum cable service.
Like the first six episodes of the reboot, this second set of six episodes will all be 30 minutes long and star Hunt and Reiser alongside Abby Quinn, playing the grown-up version of their daughter Mabel. So far, little is known about this final group of six episodes, though IMDB does reveal that Episode 9 (that is, Episode 3 of the second part) and Episode 10 are titled “The Cheese Stands Alone” and “Anderson Cooper and Other Fantasies” respectively.
On December 4, Spectrum also revealed a number of guest stars who would make an appearance in the back half of the season. The first of these was Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander, due to play himself, and the second is Jean Smart, fresh off of her performance as Laurie Blake in HBO’s Watchmen.
According to The Wrap, Smart will play, “Chelsea Stevens-Kobolakis, an eccentric best-selling author, lifestyle guru and podcaster who runs a weekend seminar that Paul and Jamie attend — accidentally.”
In the lead-up to the release of the second half of the Mad About You reboot, Spectrum has also made available all previous episodes available to watch online—that is over 160 episodes of TV or over two and a half days worth of watching.
For those who missed the first set of six episodes of the reboot, the series returns to Paul and Jamie Buchman’s life in New York City twenty years later as they become empty nesters once Mabel moves to college.
Though the series continues the story of the original sitcom, it all but ignores the original series finale which saw Paul and Jamie reconnect in the 2020s after splitting up.
Executive producer Peter Tolan said of that ending to Variety: “We’re futzing with time a little bit…the things that you saw in that might happen in the future, but some of it won’t, so we’re not strictly being held to that finale. I’m pretending it didn’t happen.”
Mad About You 2019 Part 2 is released on Spectrum on December 18.
